COOLschool Competition Honourable mention

The proposal combines the use of local materials and building technologies with passive solar design strategies that harness the energy of the sun for heating in the cold climate. The proposed building can be built in three phases. The main issue of the existing school - overcrowding - is addressed in the first phase with a multifunction hall that can be divided into two classrooms with a temporary partition. Two classrooms are added in the following phases, each with integrated toilet and storage facilities, so that they can be built independently of each other.

The building embraces community with its multi-functional spaces, friendly environmental impact and accessible cost of construction
