COOLschool Competition Honourable mention

The project has been envisaged as a modular structure. The number and typologies of functions are minimized in order to optimize the budget. The toilets and the gym are separated from the classrooms by the entrance hall (where a check point is located), because they will also be used by the existing school's students. In this way people will come and go without interfering with the lessons. All the areas are located in the southern side, in order to benefit from the sunlight during the warmest part of the day. In the northern side, a long hallway connects the different functions. It has been planned as an aggregation space before and after lesson time. Here children can play and sit on the coloured, extended frame of the window and look outside thanks to the different level of the small windows. This space is really important in the school vision in order to increase the relationships among the children.

The project team comprises of:

Daniela Zuanigh, Jennifer Schiano and Carlotta Giusti from Italy
