Building Trust International was asked to support the renovation of a migrant learning centre on the Thai–Myanmar border.

Initial consultations were held with the school community, and a design was finalised with a model created to discuss the proposals with the Head Teacher and staff.

Love Learning Centre design uses a sustainable construction technique, with adobe bricks forming the classroom walls. These earthen blocks are produced manually and left to dry in the sun before being used to build simple wall structures.

The school opened in July 2023 and is now a safe learning space for hundreds of children. As more Burmese migrants continue to move into Thailand in search of safety, the need for additional learning centres is growing to support communities along the border.

It was a pleasure to work with Ironwood, the local community, international volunteer Ben and Kanallan to create this new education facility.
