Design workshop brings spiralling bamboo library to rural Cambodia

Following the construction of several built projects in South East Asia using natural materials and seeing the growing interest and response in sustainable design and natural materials such as bamboo. Building Trust organised a Design + Build workshop to be held on the outskirts of Phnom Penh in collaboration with local charity Aide et Action Cambodia.
A new school classroom and library were constructed from locally sourced bamboo. Aide et Action Cambodia acts to promote access to quality education. Building Trust were asked by the local charity to design and build a preschool classroom and community library. Children within the school community and teachers use the new space to conduct reading activities. The building has a “multiuse aspect” as it can also become a covered playground, or be used by the community for meetings.
