Popel Learning Centre - Cambodia
Built 2023-2024

In 2022, Building Trust International was invited to design a series of new school buildings for rural communities in need. After extensive community consultations, the designs were finalised and today classes are fully underway at Popel School.

Situated within a protected forest, the project was developed in close collaboration with the local community, teachers, conservation NGOs and partners Kulen Outreach and Kanallan. The school provides a welcoming community hub, with multiple classrooms, covered dining areas, and shaded spaces for learning. Every element of the design was guided by the aim of creating a safe, well-ventilated environment that supports both education and community gatherings.

The school community and a local team of volunteers held a vibrant painting workshop, adding the finishing touches in time for the school’s opening day.

This amazing project was a collaboration between Building Trust International, Kulen Outreach, Kanallan, KM Engineering, Cole + Partners and Form Us Design Studio.
