TERMS + CONDITIONS

1. Organizer

The competition is organized by Building Trust International (“the Organizer”).

2. Eligibility

  • The competition is open to:

    • Qualified architects, designers, and students in architecture or related disciplines.

  • Participants may enter individually or as a team.

  • Employees of the Organizer and anyone directly involved in the competition administration are not eligible.

3. Registration and Entry

4. Submission Requirements

Each entry must include:

  • Design proposal (drawings, renders, diagrams as specified)

  • Project statement (concept, methodology, etc.)

  • Any additional materials outlined in the competition brief, budget etc

Submissions must:

  • Be original work created by the entrant(s)

  • Not infringe on any third-party rights

  • Follow all formatting and anonymity requirements (if applicable)

5. Anonymity

  • Entries must be submitted anonymously.

  • Any identifying information included in submission materials may result in disqualification.

6. Judging Process

  • Entries will be evaluated by a panel of independent judges appointed by the Organizer.

  • Judging criteria will include:

    • Impact – The extent to which the project improves lives or environments

    • Feasibility – Ability to be realistically delivered within the $50,000 budget

    • Clarity of Purpose – A well-defined problem and a strong design response

    • Innovation – Creative thinking within constraints

    • Sustainability – Environmental responsibility and long-term viability

    • Inclusivity – Consideration for accessibility and those often overlooked, 

  • The judges’ decisions are final and binding.

7. Prizes

  • Prizes will be awarded as outlined in the competition brief.

  • The Organizer reserves the right to:

    • Not award a prize if entries do not meet the required standard

    • Adjust prize allocations if necessary

    • No cash alternative will be awarded

8. Intellectual Property Rights

  • Entrants retain copyright of their work.

  • By submitting an entry, participants grant the Organizer a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide license to:

    • Publish, exhibit, and promote the submitted work

    • Use materials for marketing, press, and exhibition purposes

  • Any further commercial use beyond promotion will require additional agreement with the entrant.

9. Publication and Exhibition

  • The Organizer reserves the right to:

    • Publish all or selected entries

    • Exhibit submissions in physical or digital formats

  • Entrants agree to be credited where reasonably possible.

10. Disqualification

The Organizer reserves the right to disqualify any entry that:

  • Violates these Terms and Conditions

  • Contains plagiarized or fraudulent material

  • Fails to comply with submission requirements

11. Liability

  • The Organizer is not responsible for:

    • Lost, delayed, or corrupted submissions

    • Technical issues affecting entry submission

  • Participants enter at their own risk.

12. Data Protection

  • Personal data will be collected and used solely for the administration of the competition.

  • Data will be handled in accordance with applicable data protection laws (e.g., GDPR).

13. Amendments

  • The Organizer reserves the right to amend these Terms and Conditions at any time.

  • Any changes will be communicated via official competition channels.

14. Governing Law

  • These Terms and Conditions shall be governed by the laws of the United Kingdom.

  • Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of that jurisdiction.

15. Acceptance of Terms

  • By entering the competition, participants agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions.
